Projection Mapping
Featured Project: Little Richard Mural at MidCity
This was my favorite project to work on. Celebrating the legacy of Little Richard!
Step One: High Quality, undistorted view of the mural
Step 2: Color blocking.
Step 3: Create outlines and hand-drawn effects to overlay.
Step 4: Simulate particles using these outlines and color blocks as a boundary!
Projection in Downtown Huntsville
Setting up the projector’s alignment on the side of the AL.com building. This step ensures the content planned ahead of time matches the real-world location down to a pixel-width. This project was done in collaboration with LED Orange.
Testing the lighting conditions on the side of the AL.com Building in Downtown Huntsville’s Square
In Collaboration with UAH, we transformed the Alabama First National Bank into a Haunted House for a night for the LIT Festival using projection mapping. To create an image this bright from the distance we needed to project, we had to stack and align 8 projectors across West Side Square st.
To achieve optimal projection onto the Alabama First National Bank's limestone facade for the LIT Festival, understanding the physics of light falloff—based on the Inverse Square Law—was essential. This law states that the intensity of light projected on a surface diminishes in proportion to the square of the distance from the source. In simpler terms, the Inverse Square Law means that if you double the distance between the light source and the target, the brightness of the light on the target becomes a quarter of what it was.
Given the need to project clear, vivid images from a significant distance, we had to carefully calculate the required lumen output of our projectors. Considering the atmospheric light dispersion and the light absorption characteristics of limestone, we selected high-lumen projectors and employed an array of eight unit. This setup ensured the mitigation of light falloff and maintained the visual integrity of the projection.
We did a similar process for The First Baptist Church of Birmingham for their Christmas show.
Movies in the Park
Village Fox Media was contracted to run Downtown Huntsville’s Movies in the Park event at Big Spring Park during the months of October and November. Over 400 people gathered around the big screen to watch favorites like Ghost Busters, Hocus Pocus, and Disney’s Coco.

Projection Mapping Pre-Visualization
This step allows ultimate customization and superior planning for events. This allows us to easily visualize logistics, power supply, and dozens of other common potential issues ahead of time.
