Building partnerships with fellow local artists is integral to the Village Fox ethos, which is how we came to find ourselves at the scene of the crime with Blue Melody for their Scandal at the Strawberry Festival this past May.

Blue Melody is Madison County’s premiere murder mystery dinner theater experience, and we can tell you from experience: they put on a killer show!

Village Fox Media CEO Gavin Richardson had the pleasure of meeting Blue Melody’s LaToya Hope while producing a series of testimonial videos with the Madison Chamber of Commerce. They were looking for audio production services for their May 31st performance at Huntsville’s Lumberyard venue. We at Village Fox Media just updated our audio equipment for live A/V production.

Gavin adjusts the levels and panning of the wireless mics to maintain consistent volume for actors as their parts required lots of movement around the venue throughout the evening.

With an array of wireless microphones, timed audio cues for the actors, and DJing, we had our hands full with this fun summer dinner theater!

The music at your event has a huge impact on the overall environment, so as the DJ it’s very important to curate a vibe. This event was themed as a breezy, funky, 1960’s Strawberry Festival in bucolic Small-Town America.

As this was a dinner theater, the event alternated between performance sections and courses of a meal so patrons were able to eat and discuss their investigations amongst themselves and the actors.

To cue performances from the actors, we used a Stream Deck to play specific audio clips. When a train whistle starts to blow, an actor would know that this was the time to begin the next scene.

The event went smoothly, the killer was apprehended at the end of the evening, and many a strawberry was eaten.

We were glad to help The Blue Melody bring this exciting event to life at the newly renovated Lumberyard venue in Downtown Huntsville! The Lumberyard is owned by TVG Hospitality Group, the same organization behind the Orion amphitheater in Huntsville and the Saturn in Birmingham.
